Science covers a very broad field of knowledge that deals with the observed fact of natural phenomena & relationship between those facts. The word science comes from the Latin word "Scientia" which means knowledge scientific studies, ideas, knowledge and its applications have resulted in the development of new technologies. Today science has advanced so much that it has developed completely new technological era. Today we are living in new age-"Age of science"
Science has discovered many interesting facts such as gravitation, rotation and revolution of earth, various chemical reactions and behind almost every natural phenomenon which has answer thousands of answer of man's queries. This scientific discoveries and theories led the inventions of many new technologies. Thus, all the technological inventions such as airplanes, automobiles, plastics, etc. And much more are contributions of science.
Science has made tremendous development in almost every field of our life. Science has enormous influence on our lives. It has completely changed the pattern of man's life. Our life today is radically different from that of our forefathers. Even a few 100 years ago man was largely at the mercy of nature, whenever there was a calamity or an epidemic, the only message was the proverb :- " WHAT CAN NOT BE CURED, MUST BE ENDURED." But science changed the proverb to: - "WHAT CANNOT BE ENDURED MUST BE CURED." Science has enhanced man's power over the nature and so he has gain confidence on himself and became independent on mercy of nature. Science helps us to understand ourselves and our place in the universe.
Consider the ancient age when ancient people had to walk and cover a long distance to meet their relatives or to reach their destinations. But today we can easily reach or visit any place on earth that we wish by travelling through land, water or air depending on our comfort. This is possible because of over discoveries that spherical or circular object can roll easily over smooth surfaces which can cover a long distances easily, later vehicles, fuels and engines are invented which can take us to the desire destination within a few hours, further airplanes, motor board and various other new automobile were invented with the help of science & technology. Thus time and distance have been over powered by science.
Science has brought different nations close to one another. This resulted in promotion of understanding and establishment of friendly relationship among people of various region, state and nations. Thus we can say science has made us truly civilized. Research in nuclear science led to the development of nuclear energy as a source of power.
Science and technology have developed better quality and quantity of plants and seeds and yields and highly effective fertilizer in the agricultural fields. With the discovery of new chemicals, desert area can be converted to fertile lands. In the medical field, scientific studies made a great contribution in the developments of antibiotics and new drugs. Which help to control much dangerous infectious disease. Even many incurable epidemic disease prevented with the help of vaccines. Today there is hardly any disease that is incurable. Thus science increase life span of human beings.
Thus science and technology change our lives in many dramatic ways. Airplanes, automobiles, mobile phones TVs, plastic, computers communication satellite etc are the few important inventions that have transformed human lives. The science has enabled us to do a lot of work within short period of time & with little physical strain. Science has invented a number of machines to do various unpleasant and difficult job for us. Science has really freed us from drudgery of manual work. Thus, it is true that science has changed our lives. But change does not only mean development & benefits, it can also be advisable. Science has also made many adverse changes in man's life. Although scientific achievements have benefited us in many ways they have also created serious problems in our daily life. The rapid growths of industries have resulted in the grave environmental pollutions, and fuel shortage, which adversely affect the life of people living nearby such industries. Such environmental pollutions are a global problem. Continuous use of CFC gases via ac's and refrigerators cause depletion of ozone layer which results in global warming.
The contribution of science to the cause of human welfare has been very monumentally great and it can be reasonably hoped that with the advancement of time & science will develop even more and man will be the master of all things in the universe.
